Opal Schafpate 14 - Winterweide

Schafpate 14 - Winterweide consists of eight lovely striped sock yarns that take on a Fair Isle-like look when knitted into socks. Each color combination is inspired by the German winter pastures where the sheep, whose wool this yarn comes from, belong.

The Schafpate series is a project by Opal that aims to help protect German shepherds and German migratory sheep farming in general, as well as raise awareness for local production. Yarns from this series are made from the wool of a rare breed of German sheep, which is both soft, durable and hard-wearing. In addition, the yarn is superwash-treated, which means that the yarn can go in the washing machine.
