Mercerized cotton is cotton that has been treated to achieve extra shine, strength, and colorfastness. The treatment makes the fibers smoother and more uniform, resulting in an elegant appearance and very even stitch definition. The yarn is durable, shape-retaining, and well suited for projects where both appearance and durability are important—such as summer garments, tops, dresses, accessories, and home items like bags, placemats, and tablecloths.
