DROPS - Cotton 100%
Cotton 100% - for practical days and imaginative moments! Yarn made of cotton can be a bit of everything. Firstly, much of the clothes we humans are using are made of cotton in all types of qualities and from all parts of the world. It has made cotton one of the most popular materials in the world, and there is a good reason for that. The cotton is suitable for many seasons depending on the type you choose to knit with.
It is, therefore, very easy to find cotton clothes in all British clothing stores and on the internet. But if you want to know exactly where your clothes come from, then you can choose to knit some of it yourself from scratch. And there are many possible projects to get into.
For example, you can choose to knit light T-shirts in fashionable designs or knit light summer dresses for both big and small children. Another, and slightly more alternative, way of using cotton, which in the last few years has spread like a wildfire in Denmark, is knitted towels and also tea towels.
Cotton with many options
Of course, it matters how much experience you have had in the past when choosing your next knitting project. But a lot of people in the past few years have started knitting or resumed this hobby because the Internet has made it easier than ever to find patterns for everything from tea towels and towels to potholders and small tablecloths.
In general, cotton is a great choice if you want to practice knitting but do not want to spend too much money on the first yarn balls in case the project wouldn't turn out to be the same as you had hoped for. Cotton is also perfect if you haven't previously spent a very long time with the knitting needles in your hands. That is because the cotton yarn is very compact, so it's easy to see where you are and whether everything looks as it should. And then you can allow yourself to squeeze and fumble with cotton a little more than with sensitive yarn — and that can be nice when you're a beginner and are still learning.
If you are no longer a beginner but still want to try your hand in knitting other things besides sweaters, socks and other clothes, you can start making small light chains. Basically, you knit small round balls that are attached to the outside of the light chains. These can be knitted in different patterns so the light will shine through the knitted balls. An obvious choice for the children's room would be, for example, a colourful light chain that can brighten up the winter.
The cotton is available in many qualities and at a variety of prices. As a starting point, it is a good idea to invest in good quality cotton. Otherwise, you risk that the shape of, for example, the hat or shirt, will quickly change.
